INSTRUCTIONS 





14/5/2018 ( week 8 )

We have to illustrate and animate a turning point based on an urban legend that we must choose from the internet in an Art Deco style on adobe illustrator. For me i have chosen a local urban legend which is " Mahsuri in Langkawi "

 Summary of the whole story " Mahsuri Langkawi "

 Mahsuri was the daughter of a couple who moved to phuket to search of a better life. She was the most beautiful in all of langkawi and married the warrior Wan Darus. Mahsuri be friend with a young traveller named Deraman. Village chief’s wife Wan Mahora was jealous of mahsuri’s beauty. She spread rumour that mahsuri have a affair Deraman in the absence of Wan Darus. The rumours grew strong enough that the villages openly accused her of adultery. Mahsuri pleaded her innocence , but no one believed her. Mahsuri was tied to a tree and stabbed to death but it didn’t work. After many execution attempt failed, mahsuri told them to kill her with the family’s “keris”. She was stabbed , white blood flowed from the wound, signifying her innocence. Some bird flew above to cover her body. With her dying breath , mahsuri cursed langkawi to have seven generations of bad luck.

 The turning point in this story is , when she told when u stab me with her fathers keris and if white blood flows out means she is innocent and she will put a crushed to have seven generations of bad luck 





After showing myself sketch's to Mr hafiz and Mr Kannan , they approved and I started to transfer my sketches to AI 
1.4 1st attempt of the back ground 

After consulting Mr kannan he said that I should put a gradient at the background to give a mood to the poster. 

1.5 2nd attempt of the back ground 

After adding the gradient it was approved and I have to move on to the character.

After everything is done I dont get the mood of it like there should by more people surrounding this scene of this, so I decided to draw some human silhouette to add the mood and it Shows that this is a important thing to be notice by the whole village in langkawi.

1.9 Adding human silhouette

After adding I show this art work mr hafiz and mr kannan they say I did convey the feel and ambience of the whole story but there is a gradient at the background I should have the shadow at the human figure to give it a more realistic visual appearance 

1.10 Adding shadow

By adding in the shadow I feel satisfied with this art work , it does give a little realistic appearance to the whole art work like bringing it alive compared to a flat surface and there is no texture to the whole poster. I showed mr kannan and its was approved it by saying comparing it with the previous piece which where I didn't put in the shadow on the character mr kannan said it very well done on the shadow and than I have to proceed with my animation.

I animate the white blood flowing down from the scar to emphasise on the white blood of mahsuri.
